This quote means promises should never be broken in anyway if someone tells you something than its a promise. To me a promise is when i trust someone enough to tell them my promise. For example I once told my friend a big promise I trusted her until she told lots of people i was really disappointed and shocked she told but i ended up forgiving her . But I didn't feel like i can tell her something anymore because I felt like she was just going to tell someone else. So a promise is very trust worthy its proving to someone that you care enough not to tell people about it.
